Academic Integrity and Misconduct

The College of Engineering, Computing, and Cybernetics is committed to the highest academic integrity standards and fostering a culture of integrity within our community.

This page provides resources for students and academic staff about academic integrity. It offers videos and links to the relevant processes, policies, and readings on academic integrity, and recommendations from ANU and other committed institutions.

  • The Academic Integrity Rule 2021 promotes academic integrity and manage breaches of the academic integrity principle.
  • The Centre for Learning and Teaching compiled relevant information about the academic integrity process from the notification of review to the notification outcome. This resource is relevant for both students and academic staff.
  • The ANU Academic Skills webpage provides resources for students and academic staff on referencing, best practices, and the use of Turnitin. If you have any questions related to these resources, you can book an appointment with their learning advisers.

We understand that the Academic Integrity review process can be stressful for both students and academic staff. If you need any assistance during this procedure, please don't hesitate to contact us. We are here to offer support and help you succeed in your academic journey.

  • Contact your course convenor or course teaching staff if you have any questions about your assignments and how they will uphold academic integrity. They are there to support you.
  • ANU Academic Skills page can help you with referencing, time management, best practices, etc. Book an appointment with them clicking here.
  • Get support from the Access & Inclusion staff to ensure you have the necessary conditions to perform at your best (eligibility applies). They can arrange additional support for you. Click here to learn more about the Educational Access Plan and other forms of support.
  • Get help from ANU Counselling staff, the Dean of Students, the Sub-Dean (Academic Integrity) and ANU Students’ Association.

A culture of Academic Integrity starts with you

We cannot ignore situations where we have evidence that someone has breached academic integrity and must deal with the situation appropriately, as stated in the Student Code of Conduct (item 11, reporting).

  • The Australian Academic Integrity Network has produced guidelines for using Generative AI.
  • The Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) provides resources on understanding academic integrity in multiple languages explaining academic integrity and how to identify, avoid and report illegal cheating services.
  • The MIT Academic Integrity website provides a handbook for students. The examples can be used to discuss academic integrity with students and academic staff.
