Software Engineering Work Experience Opportunity - RepositPower

A paid Work Experience opportunity exists for Software Engineering students with RepositPower starting ASAP.

Position Title: Intern Developer

Description of work and tasks

You’ll be working in one of two areas based on your skill set and experience.

First position is in our Google Cloud where the stack covers a broad range of technology including big data, IoT, REST APIs, web and mobile apps and databases.  We have a number of projects in this area and again depending on your skill set you will be assigned one or two of these to complete in the 12 week period.

The second position is with our SBC team where we have thousands of devices currently deployed in the field and together they return over 700 million data points per day and there are thousands more on their way.  You would be working on systems for maintaining and enhancing all the tooling for the monitoring of the remote devices.  The target image for each of these remote devices is Linux based - you will need to work on that image creation, installation, testing and monitoring.  An ability to compile the Linux kernel and build a rootfs - all advantages.

Both roles will require some portion of time spent analysing, designing and documenting features and services. You will also assist members of the team and help build a better developer experience/culture through continuous improvement.

Expected time commitment per week

We are reasonably flexible in this regard but the more hours per week you work the more you get paid.  We would expect a minimum of 20 hours per week up to an ideal maximum of 38.  You’re welcome to work from our office in Fyshwick or from your preferred location, and we don’t require you to strictly stick to 9-5, Mon-Fri office hours.

Is this a paid position? If so, what is the pay rate?

In accordance with the Fair Work Ombudsman Misc Award you will be classified at level 2 and as a result paid a casual rate of $28.47/hour including 25% casual loading plus superannuation at the current national rate. You will not be required to work weekends, public holidays or out of business hours.

How many positions are available: One (1).
