Plasma−matter interface
The aim of this talk is to introduce the community to my current research and how it may benefits others in their research endeavours. My primary research field is the development and application of tools based on plasmas, i.e. weakly ionised gases. I am particularly interested in the interface phenomena—the events and processes that take place when plasmas come into contact with different types of matter, from solid materials to liquids and biomolecules, all the way to cells and organisms.
Once properly understood and controlled, these processes can deliver tangible benefits across a variety of fields, from 2D material synthesis and processing, to biomass and other waste reforming, water and food decontamination, to industrial mutagenesis and cancer therapy.

Biography
Katia Bazaka has recently joined the Research School of Electrical, Energy and Materials Engineering as an Associate Professor. Trained as an engineer, Katia works at the interface of engineering, material science, and biology. She has previously held an ARC DECRA.
