Marcos Cáceres

Marcos Cáceres has been an active participant in W3C standardization efforts since 2006. Marcos currently co-Chairs the W3C’s Web Platform Working Group and the Web Platform Incubator Community Group. Together, the two groups produce new technologies that empower web developers to build next-generation experiences on the Web. Marcos has spent the last 6 years working for Mozilla, creators of the Firefox web browser. At Mozilla, he is a Staff Engineer for the Document Object Model Team, where he hacks on Firefox, leads the effort to standardize the W3C’s Web Payments suite of technologies, and actively edits a range of other web standards: from Web Manifest, to Screen Orientation, and many others. Previously, Marcos worked at Opera Software in Oslo, Norway, where he managed the "Core ExtApps" team, which implemented Geolocation, getUserMedia(), and other standards into the Opera browser. Marcos has been developing for the Web since 1996 and is passionate about keeping the web safe, secure, private, easy to learn and use, and free and open for all.
