Optics, photonics and radiative transfer
Theoretical models and experimental techniques are employed to study interactions of light and matter. The scope of research includes determination of effective optical and radiative properties of nano-, micro- and macro-structured materials, as well as studies of light/radiation propagation by accounting for spectral and directional effects in the near- and far-fields. Classical electrodynamics, geometrical optics, macroscopic radiative transfer (i.e. based on the radiative transfer equation—RTE) and quantum mechanics are used to cover a broad range of length scales.
