Mr Hugo Temby

Hugo is a social researcher with the Battery Storage and Grid Integration Program (BSGIP), in the College of Engineering and Computer Science.
 
Hugo’s research interests include socio-technical and sustainability transitions, energy justice, and the social acceptance of smart technologies. Currently he is investigating the social worlds of smart grid projects in the Pacific. Other recent projects focused on consumer experiences with new energy technology, and the technical, market and regulatory barriers to vehicle to grid services.   
  
Hugo holds a master of applied anthropology from the ANU, and is on secondment from the ACT Government’s Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development where he led the ACT’s award-winning 100% renewable electricity and smart energy storage initiatives.
 
Prior to joining the ACT Government, Hugo worked with AusAID and the Department of Foreign Affairs, where he managed a number of large scale climate and energy programs in Australia and overseas.
