Dr Phillipa Watson

Senior Research Fellow

Dr Phillipa Watson is a Research Fellow investigating social aspects of energy transitions. She works/has worked to facilitate sustainable change in built environments, energy use and in the community for over 25 years, integrating transitions, housing, energy and design understanding with social and environmental foci.

Previously Phillipa has worked in research (at UQ, CSIRO and UTAS); sustainable building consultancy (at Brisbane City Council and RED sustainability consultants); housing design (through private practice); and decision support for built environment professions (in Brisbane City Council, CSIRO). In this work she sought to support smart and sustainable change for people and the building/technologies and energy systems they use. She has partnered with industry bodies and professionals, communities and their champions, government sectors and non-government organisations on predominantly applied projects.

Phillipa joined the BSGIP team at ANU in July 2022 and is currently investigating energy users’ values and social aspects of dynamic operating envelopes.
