Dr Tsuzuki received a PhD in condensed matter physics from Kyoto University, Japan, and a Graduate Certificate in Technology Management from La Trobe University. He was Chief Technology Officer of one of the first nanotechnology companies in Australia where he contributed to the successful commercialization of the university patents he co-developed. He played a key role in the large scale production and product development of commercial nanoparticles. The commercialisation effort was internationally recognised as Frost & Sullivan's 2005 Excellence in Technology of the Year Award. For this, he was nominated as a Certified Materials Professional, equivalent to Fellow status, by the Institute of Materials Engineering Australasia Ltd and served as Chair of Materials Australia Nanotechnology Special Interest Group at Materials Australia. He serves as a member of Standards Australia Committees and Joint Standards Australia/Standards New Zealand Committees for ISO TC 229 (Nanotechnologies) standards. He is also a participant in the Roundtable Discussions on National Enabling Technologies Strategy consultation by Australian Government's Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research & Tertiary Education. His memberships include Australian Research Council Nanotechnology Network, Materials Australia, Materials Research Society USA, ANU Energy Change Institute and ANU Climate Change Institute. He is a co-inventor of five PCT patents in the field of nanomaterials.
