  1. Understanding of process of identifying and formulating research problem; planning and implementing specific research tasks (simulation/experiment) and communicating outcomes.
  2. Design and conduct experiments, devise appropriate measurements, analyse and interpret data and form reliable conclusions.
  3. Demonstrate an improved ability to use an active approach to learning and to undertake reflective professional practice.
  4. Ability to carry out literature searches and some ability to critically evaluate literature.
  5. Interpret, explain and evaluate results generated during the project and compare and contrast the literature.
  6. Combine and demonstrate synthesis of new knowledge with the application of relevant underlying theory, skills, concepts and methodologies, while understanding the importance of documenting all aspects of the development of an engineering project of significant magnitude.
