Microbiomes are mainly microorganisms, especially bacteria and fungus, which lives inside or outside of a host, and form a mutual relationship with the host. The relationship between host and microbiota can be beneficial or pathogenic. It is well reported that, these microbial organisms play key role in host biology, including nutrition uptake, immunity, reproduction, and ecology . Traditional microbiome studies involve profiling or measuring diversities across different samples or environmental conditions. There are a handful of studies, which explored the functional aspects of microbiome, using statistical models. There is a gap of AI model for functional prediction of host traits, based on microbiome profiles.
Current project will evaluate different available microbiome datasets and progress towards developing a deep-learning-based AI model to predict contribution of microbiomes in host traits. The developed model will be applicable in large scale functional metagenomics, gut health programs, and predict functional traits based on bioresources.
