Collaborative Computer Graphics Imaging for Augmented Scientific Discovery (May or may not run in 2020)

Supervisor
Description
Until recently, deciphering genome architecture has been intractable due to a lack of high resolution data across multiple genomes. Data methods are currently not developed to address the industrially important data sets that are increasingly becoming available . This project aims to use new types of digital hologram rendering to allow direct, embodied interaction between face-to-face humans and their data sets though the development of new collaborative data rendering techniques. Of particular interest will be ways in which multiple people can independently navigate and analyse aspects of the data while staying grounded in their co-located physical environment.
Goals
Investigate networked computer graphics imaging systems. Develop new multi-person rendering techniques. Demonstrate the effectiveness of new 3D rendering techniques in collaborative settings.
Requirements
• Computer programming
• Computer graphics
• Computer vision
• Machine/deep learning
