On the 30th May, ANU staff, students and general public gathered to view the Unravelling Complexity student project showcase.
The event started with presentations from Dr Shayne Flint and Professor Marnie Hughs-Warrington, Deputy Vice-Chancellor. The audience were then invited to view the student’s projects in the Ian Ross Tea Room before enjoying a barbecue lunch.
Unravelling Complexity students work in multi-disciplinary teams with ANU experts and the local community in order to tackle some of society’s most challenging problems. At the end of their project, the students present their innovative and practical ideas in a poster.
This year’s projects included eWaste Management, Breast Feeding Awareness, Migrant Integration, Homelessness, Disability Services, Educational Disadvantage and Data Privacy on the Internet.
“In order to address society’s most challenging problems, it is necessary for engineers, artists, lawyers, economists, historians and other disciplines to work together. Unravelling Complexity prepares highly motivated students from across the ANU for such challenges,” said Dr Shayne Flint.
The Vice-Chancellor’s course has been running for over 4 years with this being the first time the ANU community and general public were invited to view the student’s work.
