ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science is delighted to announce the appointment of Pascal Van Hentenryck to a Chair in Data Intensive Computing within the Research School of Computer Science.
This is one of a number of Strategic Chair positions sponsored by Professor Ian Young, Vice Chancellor of ANU, aimed at transforming the research base of the University.
Professor Van Hentenryck has a very distinguished career researching in the field of business analytics. He currently leads the Optimisation Research Group at NICTA, whose research focuses on optimisation, algorithmic decision theory, logistics and supply chains, energy systems, and disaster management.
He will continue in this role on taking up the position at ANU.
Professor John Hosking, Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science, said he is delighted that Van Hentenryck will be joining ANU.
“He is an outstanding academic who is able to integrate multiple areas of computer science together and will strongly drive our data intensive science initiative building on our existing strengths in high performance computing, machine learning, data mining and matching, optimisation, algorithmics and visualisation.”
