The Joy and Beauty of Computing is one of four new ANU massive open online courses (MOOCs) to be released on the Edx platform next year.
Edx takes ANU courses to the world, and brings the world to ANU. More than 20,000 students enrolled in the first two ANUx courses, The Greatest Unsolved Mysteries of the Universe and Engaging India, the first edX course taught in English and Hindi.
The next crop of courses will offer something for everyone. The four courses are:
- The Vices and Virtues of research supervision - Inger Mewburn
- Ignorance - Michael Smithson and Gabriele Bammer
- Introduction to Actuarial Studies - Adam Butt
- The Joy and Beauty of Computing - Pascal van Hentenryck
ANU was the first Australian member of edX, the online learning enterprise founded by Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology that aims to provide education to one billion people worldwide within 10 years.
