Associate Professor Lexing Xie has been named on the 2016-2017 Roster of Distinguished Lecturers of the IEEE Circuits and Systems

The two year position recognised researchers who make a significant contribution to the research field of circuits and styems.

Associate Professor Xie will give two key note lectures across 2016-2017 on (i) An Antomy of Social Media Popularity and (ii) Understanding of Images and Language with Knowledge and Styles

Lexing’s interests are in applied machine learning, in particular analysis of social media, multimedia, and spatial-temporal data.

Recent projects include modeling popularity and tracking real-world events in social media, building multimedia knowledge graphs, generating expressive image captions, and social recommendation.
