Professor Andrew Blakers a researcher from the Australian National University Research School of Electrical, Energy and Materials Engineering, has recently been inducted into the Australian Solar Council Hall of Fame for his contribution to the development of the solar energy industry in Australia.

The Australian Solar Council announced on Wednesday 4 May that Professor Blakers was inducted for an outstanding contribution to solar research and effective communication to the public of complex scientific issues.

“Professor Blakers said that he was particularly proud to be inducted because of the very prominent position occupied by Australia in developing the worldwide solar energy industry. Photovoltaics and wind now comprise half of new generation capacity installed each year worldwide and all new capacity installed in Australia. Continued rapid growth in these industries is the main hope for avoiding dangerous climate change.”
