Dr Chris Browne and PhD graduate Francesca Maclean received accolades at the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence 2017, celebrating the achievements of the University’s exceptional teachers and educational innovators.
Dr Chris Browne was awarded the Award for Indigenous Education in recognition of his outreach work engaging with Aboriginal Communities.
Recently, Chris shared his knowledge to inspire indigenous youth to look at science and engineering as an important area of study during the National Science and Engineering Summer School for Indigenous Students. The week-long Summer School gave Indigenous high school students the chance to participate in hands on activities across science and engineering disciplines.
Engineering PhD graduate Francesca Maclean was awarded for Excellence in Tutoring or Demonstration. The honor recognises Francesca’s commitment to students in delivering engaging course content, and her work in promoting gender equality in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) field at ANU.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Brian Schmidt said it was an honor to celebrate the many people across the University who contribute to improving the quality of teaching.
